Coverlee is built to collect as little as possible. Our calculators run on your device, we have no accounts or ads, and we never sell personal information.
Coverlee (“we”, “us”) operates coverleeapp.com, an independent educational website about insurance coverage. You can contact us about privacy at with the subject “Privacy request”.
All calculators except the health plan checker run entirely in your browser using JavaScript. The values you enter stay on your device while the page is open and are not transmitted to us. Some tool pages update the page address with your inputs so you can copy a link to your result; that address stays in your browser unless you choose to share it.
To show real Marketplace plans, the health plan checker sends your ZIP code, the county you choose, household income and the ages, tobacco use and pregnancy status you enter through our server to the CMS Marketplace API, a public data service run by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. We do this only to fetch your results. We do not store or log these details, and we do not combine them with anything else. CMS’s handling of API requests is governed by its own policies.
Our contact and newsletter forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which loads only when you start using a form. It checks browser signals to tell people from bots and does not show ads or build a profile. Submissions also pass simple server checks (timing, rate limits and spam filters). Email addresses on the site are revealed only when you click “Show email”.
If you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, topic and message, plus the page and language you wrote from. If you email us directly, we receive what you send.
If you subscribe, we collect your email address and preferred language.
We use your browser’s local storage, not cookies, for four small settings: your theme choice (coverlee-theme), your privacy choice (coverlee-consent), your last few on-site searches (coverlee-recent-searches) and the items you tick in our coverage checklist (coverlee-checklist). These stay on your device and are never sent to us. See our cookie policy.
If you choose “Allow analytics” in our privacy banner, we may load Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless service that reports aggregate page views. It does not load unless you allow it, and it stays off if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal.
Our site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as IP addresses and request information to deliver pages and protect against abuse.
We do not use personal information for targeted advertising and we do not create profiles.
Form submissions are sent over HTTPS through a Cloudflare Pages Function to our email and automation provider, which acts on our behalf to deliver messages to our inbox or send the newsletter. Health plan checker inputs are passed to the CMS Marketplace API as described above. We may disclose information if required by law. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Depending on where you live, including California under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA and other state privacy laws, you may have the right to know what we hold about you, to get a copy, to correct it, to delete it and to opt out of sales or sharing. We honor these requests for everyone, wherever they live.
To make a request, email with the subject “Privacy request”. We verify requests by replying to the same email address, and we respond within 45 days. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. See also do not sell or share my personal information.
Coverlee is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
We use HTTPS everywhere, keep data collection to a minimum and limit who can access messages. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so please do not send sensitive information such as Social Security numbers or policy numbers through our forms.
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the “last updated” date. Significant changes will be noted at the top of the page.
